Aftab Ahmed, A case Of Denied Justice
Over 40 mqm workers have been killed in custody, most of whom had no
criminal record and no cases on them. Over 140 workers are missing and
no one knows about them. Last year on this day, Aftab Ahmed was tortured
to death in custody. What they did was finest form of barbarism and
abuse of human rights.
Aftab was a political worker, a son, a husband, a brother, a father to five children, the eldest of whom is only 14. But above all he was a Pakistani. A Pakistani who was denied of his basic right, RIGHT TO LIVE !
When was the last time you heard an Aman Committee activist killed in custody? Or a Lashkar e Jhangvi or Sipah e Muhammad's target killer found dead due to a heart attack in detention? A Daesh or Taliban commander may be ?? How about Ehsan Ullah Ehsan for that matter, will he be tortured the same way? or have they tortured anyone else in a similar fashion? I cant think of any custodial murder other than the Mqm workers. These extra judicial killings would only spread hatred. Please present these workers in courts , even if they are criminals , present them in the God Damn Courts !!!
The then DG rangers admitted violation of interrogation SOP's in Aftab Ahmed's case. In simple words, he accepted that Aftab, was tortured by his force. The then army cheif also took note of the murder and promised a fair inquiry, he also assured that strict action will be taken against those who were responsible. Nothing happened then and nothing has happened yet. Guess the Saudi military alliance has kept him busy.
After Aftab's death, his mother was heard saying :
“My son was killed for no reason at all. I have no answer to give to his children. Whoever did this should be treated in a similar manner. This is not enough. The same treatment should be meted out to the men who tortured my son under their custody. It happened to him because he was a Mohajir. There’s no other reason or justification for this brutality other than this fact,”.
They say justice delayed is justice denied, not even the army cheif could serve justice to Aftab's mother so in this case it is an absolute denial of justice. Please raise your voice. Please stand up against this injustice, it is not an operation but an oppression based on hatred and enmity against a particular community. If this doesn't let you stand, losing your own loved ones will !!
